EuroParcs Enkhuizer Strand

  • Directly on the IJsselmeer, water sports
  • Playground, bicycle hire, restaurant
  • Trips: cheese market, canals, museums

Swimming, water sports, exploring Alkmaar, Amsterdam and the IJsselmeer

Here families, active people and water sports enthusiasts enjoy holidays directly on the IJsselmeer. The EuroParcs Enkhuizer Strand holiday park is located near the old town of Enkhuizen. Holidaymakers can learn to glide over the waves with a sailing boat or kite at the nearby water sports centre. A restaurant takes care of the physical well-being. In the morning, there is a bread roll service. Children will love the playground. Holidaymakers can rent bicycles, go-karts or e-choppers. WiFi is free of charge for guests at the EuroParcs Enkhuizer Strand holiday park.

Discover the diversity of North Holland on excursions

When strolling through Enkhuizen harbour, holidaymakers can spot the 500-year-old landmark from afar. The fortified building at the harbour is called the Dromedary Tower because of the shape of its roof. Those who enjoy a holiday at the EuroParcs Enkhuizer Strand holiday park can also explore Medemblik or the "final dike". The century-old structure separates the large inland sea IJsselmeer from the North Sea and protects large parts of the Netherlands from storm surges. In the town of Medemblik you will find two museums that are also particularly interesting for families - the Bakery Museum and the Steam Engine Museum. Also worth seeing are the De Herder mill and the Zwingburg Radboud, whose origins date back to the 13th century. Its purpose in the Middle Ages was to subjugate the freedom-loving West Frisians.

Trips to Alkmaar - and Amsterdam is not far either

In nearby Alkmaar, a canal tour through the old town, a visit to the beer museum or the cheese museum in the historic Waag building are tempting. On Friday mornings from April to early September, the world-famous cheese market takes place - a traditional spectacle that holidaymakers should not miss. From a quarter past nine, the chimes ring in the cheese market and the traditionally dressed cheese carriers' guilds stand ready. The seaside resorts on the kilometre-long, fine-sand North Sea beach and, of course, Amsterdam are also worth a trip.
