What does Wikipedia say about Montgrí Castle: “The Montgrí Castle is a historical edifice in Torroella de Montgrí, Catalonia, Spain, built between 1294 and 1301.” And what do we say about the four-star camping park Castell Montgrí? “It is the perfect vacation, offering fun for the whole family!”
Do your kids want to splash around in the pool and race down the water slides? That would be a clear yes, wouldn´t it? Do you want to try delicious cocktails at the pool bar at the same time? No? Okay, then maybe join your little monkeys on the wide family slide and race it down all together? Also a no? Alright, then you might be interested in that:
Kick the ball or draw the bow? Wi-Fi or water activities? Read a book or explore Barcelona? Mini golf (on the course) or actual golf (6 miles)? Horseback riding (under 1 mile to the pony farm) or laying on your back in the sun (0 miles to your porch and sunbed)? Via shuttle bus to the close-by beach or cool siesta inside your air-conditioned luxurious mobile homes? And at night? Night in or night out? Grilled fish or freshly fried filet? Pizza or paella? Not your cup of tea? Doesn´t matter, book here, since Castell Montrí offers even more options.

Campsite is beautiful however maintenance standards have significant room for improvement. Our decking completely overgrown with grass, no shade umbrella provided, One mobile had no hot water, kitchen hob not working & no kettles provided. Booked with Allcamps but that turned out to be handed over to Homair. Extremely difficult to locate rep, we called to Homair reception three times first day, twice second day & had to speak with rep from another company who kindly offered to ring them on our behalf. Homair rep refused to take any responsibility for the unkept decking area when discusssd with her, stating that was the function of campsite itself & she could not address this with them on our behalf!!! Would not advise a booking with Allcamps (Homair) given poor standards & inability to negotiate with main Camp for their customers.
Still there and we still love it

I have been many times before, going back to 1998 so have lots to compare with. The site is making a big effort after what must have been a very hard 2 years. There are no Covid restrictions now, which was very welcome. Unfortunately, it seems many businesses in the town itself have had to close, you can't turn your economy off and on like a light switch. If only those clamouring for lockdowns had considered that.
The grounds are still beautifully kept, the only major change here is the shop, which is a shadow of its former self. But never, mind, it was overpriced anyway and the Lidl over the road has got better and now stocks some quite decent items. The pools are up and running and usably warm, with 2 lifeguards at both. Films are still showing at L'Ombra. Special mention for the girl leading the animation team at the Panorama pool, she was doing a fantastic job providing entertainment for the kids (and their parents) along with the DJ who was playing decent music instead of modern rubbish.
I don't agree you need a car to get to Estartit, there's a footbath behind the main road that will get you there in 20 minutes. After driving to Spain I was glad to leave my car siting outside our Eurocamp mobile. Full marks to them also, they were up and running and everything was in good order.
Come back again, you won't be disappointed. We weren't, except on the very last night some Spanish guests were partying outside until 4am. When challenged, they laughed at us. We called the reception 24 hour number, they called security and within 10 minutes, all was quiet again.

They used to come here as kids so it was a trip down memory lane for them. They both said it hasn't changed :) the chalet we stayed in was abit smaller then what it looked like on the Jet2 website but that was our fault for lack of research. The campsite is out of the town so if you want to go out in the evening you are better off driving there (like they did as kids) or hiring a car. There was plenty to do on the campsite, mini golf, swimming ect. The evening entertainment was good for the kids. We were disappointed that we tried to book the Barcelona excursion but couldn't because the guide had broke his leg. All in all we really enjoyed it, the kids loved it. We would defiantly come back again however me and my husband did say we wouldn't come back just us as it's a family resort and doesn't have that couples holiday feel to it.
I would also like to say that we met a stray cat on site. I am wondering if they are fed by the site? It broke my heart seeing it beg for food and be rejected by people.
